Rachel and Melissa used to be really good friends. But that was before the Yeerks started invading Earth. Now Melissa is acting distant, and Rachel can't help but wonder if Melissa's been made a Controller - especially since Melissa's father happens to be Assistant Principal Chapman. To learn more about the Yeerks and, secretly, to find out what's up with Melissa, Rachel goes to shoop aroound the Chapman house - but ends up in more trouble than any of the Animorhps ever expected.
